Aquamums is Melbourne’s leading provider of pre and post-natal aqua fitness. We have been caring for the health and well-being of pregnant women for over 20 years.

All Aquamums instructors are fully qualified physiotherapists who have a deep understanding of the physiological changes in pregnancy and the special requirements of the pregnant and post-natal woman. As physios, we are also trained at university level in hydrotherapy, aquatic exercise prescription and group exercise - so you know you are in safe hands.

Because Aquamums classes are instructed by physiotherapists, they are rebatable on Private Health Insurance Extras.

Aquamums is suitable for all fitness levels, from very fit to not so fit, as you do the exercise at your own pace with a variety of exercise options being offered.

At Aquamums we believe it is important to keep classes small in size so that we can offer each participant the attention they need.

Aquamums classes run for around 45 minutes. You will do a variety of fun cardio-fitness exercises, toning and strengthening exercises for the arms, legs, core and pelvic floor using aqua equipment to increase the challenge, as well as flexibility and gentle stretching exercises and time for relaxation floating on noodles.

Aquamums Ai Chi classes also run for 45 minutes. Ai Chi is a gentle, non-aerobic form of exercise that combines mindfulness meditation with controlled breathing and flowing movements, like doing Tai Chi in warm water. An Aquamums Ai Chi class also includes strengthening exercises for the deep abdominals and pelvic floor muscles that are vital in pre-and post-natal well-being. (Currently this class is only at Aquanation Ringwood.)

Aqua exercise is recommended by obstetric colleges world-wide as the safe exercise option when you are pregnant.

  • You don’t put your head under the water so there is no need to wear goggles or a bathing cap.
  • The class is done in your own comfortable depth and is completely safe and enjoyable for non-swimmers.
  • You can start any time after the first trimester… and continue right up to your due date.
  • Classes are run in Melbourne’s best pools, while session times are convenient for both working women and mums at home.
  • You can claim the sessions on Private Health Insurance Extras (Physiotherapy).
