When to start
You can start Aquamums classes any time after the first trimester. The sooner you start in the second trimester the more benefits you will gain.
You can continue Aquamums classes right up to your due date.
Post-natal exercise can be commenced after your 6-week post-natal medical check-up. Then you can continue for as long as you like.
What to do?
Please contact the Aquamums Office by the quick contact form.
Detailed information regarding class locations, prices and payment details as well as the Aquamums Registration Form, will be emailed to you.
The Registration form needs to be signed by your obstetrician, GP or mid-wife to give you medical clearance to participate in moderate intensity exercise. This is for the health and safety of you and your baby. In rare circumstances exercising may not be recommended for you at this time.
When you are ready to book in for a class, please contact us by email or phone 03 9826 6346. State the class location and date you would like to start as well as your return phone number for confirmation.
Please bring your completed and signed Registration Form to your first class. Arrive 10 minutes early so that the physiotherapist can assess you before the class starts.
Entry to the pool facility is included in your Aquamums fee. Please bring cash (exact money please!) or receipt of bank transfer (no credit cards).
Also bring a drink of water.
Aquamums also offers individual aqua sessions.
If you have moderate to severe Pelvic Girdle Pain we encourage you to book in for an individual one-on-one session with the physiotherapist before joining the classes. The physio will assess your capabilities in the water and teach you how to modify exercises and moves to be PGP-friendly.
If you are a non-swimmer, an individual session will help you become confident in the water.
Individual aquatic physiotherapy sessions can be ongoing by arrangement.
